Author: Gemma Stafford
Servings: 1
Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons all purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- ½ tablespoon (1/4 oz/ 9g) cold butter, cubed
- 3½ tablespoons milk
- 2 tablespoon cheddar cheese , grated
- 2 teaspoons chopped herbs (parsley/ oregano/sage etc)
Instructions
In a microwavable mug, mix together the flour, baking powder and salt.
Using a fork rub in the cubed butter into the dry ingredients. When done it will resemble fine breadcrumbs.
Stir in the milk, cheese and herbs until your mix forms a batter.
Microwave for roughly 45 seconds - 1 minute. (this timing is based on my 1200W microwave so yours might vary)
Enjoy warm!
Recipe Notes
Cooking time will vary greatly depending on your microwave and the width and depth of the mug. The mugs I use are small, roughly 6oz (¾ /1 cup)
Always keep a close eye on your mug while in the microwave so it doesn’t over flow or over cook.

Well DoNE!! I love your site. the recipes are a GREAT jumping of point for me. I have found that I can Double your mug recipes and bake them in one of our cereal bowls. In my micro I cook them for 2min15 sec and then let them sit for about 2 more minutes for the bakes. Works very well for two of us, and I don’t have to do the recipe twice! The herb biscuit is amazing, but I never would have thought of using it for pot pie–and how about a sweet version for peach pie/cobbler. Since it…Read more »

I’m on a medical diet called LID. I can’t even say how happy I am to find this site. Most of all your mug ideas can quickly be adapted to my diet so I can eat real food. Last time I was on this diet I ate nothing but fruit and veg I had no idea how to eat. Ur an amazing blessing I thank you

This is my second ever mug meal recipe. I accidentally added 1 TABLESPOON of oregano 😭 instead of the 2 TEASPOONS required. Although this came out VERY VERY HERBY I can tell that when I add the correct measurements it will be fantastic. I’m going to try to add sausage and make it a breakfast biscuit!

Delicious! Made with 4 tablespoons milk to make a thinner batter, a zesty citrus herb blend and blue cheese. Fabulous
