How to overcome ICC profile warning & export an ID file to PDF? ›

You can open the PNG in Photoshop and do an Edit>Convert to Profile.. with the Destination set to AdobeRGB—that will preserve the PNG's color appearance. Resave the . png as a . PSD with the AdobeRGB profile embedded, and that should prevent the warning unless you have another version 4 profile in the ID document.

"preserve numbers" keeps CMYK elements created within InDesign unchanged. You need to assign the profile of the document working space to the image. You can do that during the import process or Control click on the image.

Try going to Edit > Assign Profile and selecting Don't Color Manage This Document.

ICC profiles help you to get the correct colors for your images. For example, for correctly displaying images designed for printing on a computer monitor, you can choose an ICC profile.

Open the PDF in Acrobat. From the All tools menu, select Protect a PDF. From the left panel, select Remove security.

CMYK is just a generic reference for 4-color process. Web coated SWOP V2 is a specific print profile for web offset printing; it is generally acceptable for most 4-color printing, so you can use it if you printer hasn't specified anything more specific than "CMYK at 300 DPI."

RGB colours may look good on screen but they will need converting to CMYK for printing. This applies to any colours used in the artwork and to the imported images and files. If you are supplying artwork as a high resolution, press ready PDF then this conversion can be done when creating the PDF.

It won't hurt anything to delete the profiles, as long as you're sure you'll never need them. Personally, I'd keep the Adobe RGB profile as that's a commonly used color space profile. However, the CMYK profiles are safe to delete, as few people outside of professional printers, have need for CMYK profiles.

How to remove ICC profile? ›

WINDOWS. Start by navigating to the folder on your hard drive that holds ICC profiles. The "Windows" folder is in your root directory, usually the C drive, reached from Computer or My Computer. Once at the folder, locate then simply delete the profile you no longer want.

In general, ICC profiles are available in zipped packages so that the file is compressed. Unzip the package by double-clicking on it prior to installing as neither the operating system nor Capture One can parse a zipped ICC profile. Right-click on the file and select Extract All.

Choose File > Export. Specify a name and location for the file. Select Use InDesign Document Name As The Output Filename, if you want the exported PDF to have the same name as the name of the document from the next export. For Save As Type (Windows) or Format (Mac OS), choose Adobe PDF (Print), and then click Save.
