Some background informationabout the story

The underground civilization of the D'ni, which was based on the technique of being able to travel throughso called "Linking Books", to an unlimited number of Ages, hashad it's secrets. D'ni has perished about 2050 years ago by a tragic disaster that hasdisintegrated this remarkable culture. But recently it has been rediscovered, the old underground empire is being searched and restored, and strangely enough many people want toparticipate in this restoration process. But rebuilding and restoring D'ni could prove to be not as easy as one initially thought. The DRC, witch standfor "D'ni Restoration Council", the Council for Restoration of the D'ni, is a group of archaeologists, technicians and other scientists andit was created exclusively to restore the physical world of the D'ni.

The cautious methodologies of the DRC are painstakingly scrupulous, some even find it toextreme. Yeesha, the eccentric daughter of Atrus and Catherine, was born almost 200 years ago. She has recorded and left messages relating to the restoration. She believes that the goal of her life is to shape the restoration, but her view of things and goals differ from that of the DRC. To make sure that everyone who feels called to the D'ni is worth participating in this project, Yeesha subjects every candidate to a number of quests.

About the game:

Uru Ages Beyond Myst tells the story of Yeesha, the daughter of Atrus and Catherine.

You go in search of the old and extinct D'ni civilization on the basis of instructions that Yeeshahas left behind.

When you start the game the first time you first have to create a so-called Avatar.

Myst: Uru Ages Beyond Myst (2)

The Avatar is your playing figure, the puppet, with which you will play the game. You can choose a male orfemale avatar.

After you have set the various options, via the other tabs, and clickedthe "OK" button, the game starts with the "Avatar"screen.

In this screen you can adjust the appearance of your AVATAR on various points.

Myst: Uru Ages Beyond Myst (3)

If you are satisfied with the appearance of your puppet, click on the "URU" button,at the top right of the page to start the game.

Uru Ages Beyond Myst has been made as a3D game and this means that you play the game in the first personperspective or in the 3rd person perspective.

Myst: Uru Ages Beyond Myst (4)

As a rule you'll switch between 1e personand 3rd person perspective a lot because it's sometimes better to be in the1e person perspective and other times it's better to be in the 3rdperson perspective. You have to make this choice yourself. Thegame starts with Chapter 1: The Cleft in the Desert. When you have started this chapter you'll find I a Question mark and a Crossat the bottom right of your screen, when you move your cursor there.

Myst: Uru Ages Beyond Myst (5)

If you click on the Cross you can immediately close the game. If you click on the Question mark, a "HELP" screen opens.

In this "Help" screen you can view the Help, the Game Settings, the Keyboard settings andsome other stuff

Myst: Uru Ages Beyond Myst (6)

The game can be "controlled" with your keyboard but also with your mouse and a combination of mouse /keyboard. While playing you can switch between the 1st person and the 3rd person perspective via your F1button. The keyboard controls can be somewhat problematic, given the various camera settings. The best thingto do is that you choose the 3rd person control as yourstandard point of view. You will then see your Avatar in the area. Through the first person setting you can see the environment through the eyes of your Avatar. The 1st person is useful to view things up close, butit is not so useful when you have to climb and jump. You will have to climb and jump in this game,on some occasions, and you can loose your live . But when you die then that is not Game Over, butyou will be taken back to your Relto Age and from there you can go back to the Age where you were at the moment you "died".

Save and Load in Uru Ages BeyondMyst:

You CAN NOT SAVE yourself in Uru Ages BeyondMyst. The game automatically saves any change you make in an Age and when youEXIT the game. But everything you have done in the game, before you exit, will be saved. So if you have solved a puzzle and then Exit the game, then the puzzle remains solved when you start the game again. The so-called "Journey Cloths"that you have to find in every Age, save your position within an Age.

Myst: Uru Ages Beyond Myst (7)

You have to find those "JourneyCloths" first and then touch them to activate them. In each Age you have to find and activate 7 "JourneyCloths". After you have activated a "JourneyCloths", it is saved in the Linking Book of the Age. If you then close the game and then start up again you always start in Relto. Through the Linking Books you then travel back, from Relto to the Age where you were last. In that Linking Book you click on the "Journey Cloths". You then return to the place where you last activated a "Journey Cloths". You can also click on the Age Photo in the Linking book. Then you return to the beginning of the Age.In the walkthrough I will explain this further when you have to do this thefirst time

Because you can not Save yourself in the game you can never return to a previous save point in the game. The Game stores your progress in the game in 1 save file that is updated each time youExit the game, or touches a new "JourneyCloths". So if you want to use someone else's save file, that person will have to send you that entire save file, every time, and you have to place that in your game. In Windows 7 you will find the Save file at the following location:

Myst: Uru Ages Beyond Myst (8)

Of course you can see on the above picture the location as it is on my computer. I installed the game on my D-drive and in the "Uru" folder. In "Uru" you will find the folder "Sav" and in it the folder "Current" will be found andthere you will find the Save file. On the picture the save file is the "Cleft_0001AC9562E10001" file and that is the Save file for Chapter 1: The Cleft in the desert.

You first have to finish Chapter 1: TheCleft in the Desert to get to your Relto Age. As yougo through Chapter 1, you have to find and touch the 7"Journey Cloths"to save your progress. You can always leave Chapter 1 at any time if you have activated a "Journey Cloths".

The Game then saves your progress and when you restart the game, everything you have done until then has been preserved in the desert and you can continue playing. If, however, you shut down without having found and touched the next "Journey Cloths", you must do everything you have done from your last "Journey Cloths" again.

At the end of Chapter 1, you will find the Relto Linking Book and this will bring, for the 1st time,to your personal Relto Island. Once you have the Relto Age Link book and you have landed on Relto you always start the game again in the Relto Age. Relto is the "Island in the Clouds" and from this Relto Age you link to the various other Ages, providing that you have found the linking books for those Ages.

Well...that's it.. I shall give moreexplanation during play, as we go so to speak......if that is necessarily

Chapter 1: The Cleft in the Dessert
Chapter 2: Your Relto Age
Chapter 3: The Theledan Age
Chapter 4: The Ghareesen Age
Chapter 5: The Kadish Tolesa Age
Chapter 6 : The Eder Kemo / Eder Gira Age
Chapter 7: The Cleft in the Desert revisited. Ending the game
