Wayne graduated from Watertown High School in 1971 and spent the first half of his life living in Watertown. He married Kathy A. Behm on November 4, 1972 at St. John's Lutheran Church. Together, they raised two children: Chantel (Jamie Gilkay) Else of Delafield and Lucas (Amanda) Freitag of Watertown. As per her plan, she passed away at home in the comfortable environs of the house she maintained for over 64 years. She was born Marion Ida Ruehlow to Ortwin and Verona (nee Knuth) Ruehlow on October 7th, 1932 in the town of Emmet, in the family farmhouse.
