1.1 What is Trade & Classification of Trade

Meaning of Trade

Economic Interaction - Buying and Selling: At its core, trade encapsulates the intricate web of economic interactions involving the buying and selling of goods, services, and resources. This dynamic process forms the backbone of economies worldwide, fostering growth and prosperity.

Multifaceted Exchange - Goods, Services, Resources: Trade is a multifaceted exchange that extends beyond mere commodities. It encompasses a wide spectrum, ranging from tangible goods like manufactured products and agricultural produce to intangible offerings such as services and intellectual property. Additionally, resources like capital, technology, and expertise are also exchanged through trade, contributing to the overall advancement of societies.

Global and Local Nexus - Within and Between Economies: Trade is a bridge that connects not only various segments within a single economy but also establishes links between different economies across the globe. Within a national context, it fuels domestic commerce and enables specialization. Beyond borders, trade strengthens international relations, fosters cultural exchange, and leverages each nation's unique strengths for mutual benefit. This interplay of local and global trade forms a cornerstone of modern economic interconnectedness, driving progress and collaboration on a worldwide scale.

Classification of Trade

Domestic Trade: Happens within a single country.

Wholesale: Large quantities of goods bought from producers and sold to retailers.

Retail: Goods sold to individual consumers in smaller quantities.
